Hace unos siete meses viajé a Londres. Fui sola y, como me aburría en el aeropuerto, decidí ir a comprar algunos libros. Uno de ellos fue Shatter me, libro que había visto muchísimo por blogger años atrás y que me llamaba bastante la atención. 

Tahereh Mafi nos trae una historia un poco original. Juliette vive encerrada en un sanatorio; sus padres decidieron llevarla allí cuando mató a alguien sin querer; y es que Juliette puede matar a alguien solo con tocar su piel. 

Ella siempre ha vivido con miedo, aislada del resto, evitando el contacto con otras personas, y siendo evitada ya que es vista como un monstruo. Durante el libro aparecerán dos personajes masculinos y se creará una especie de triángulo amoroso, cosa que no me gustó demasiado. Aunque el libro es catalogado como una distopía y está ambientado en un mundo distópico, sentí que predominaba más el romance. 

“All I ever wanted was to reach out and touch another human being not just with my hands but with my heart.”

Sinceramente no sé qué puedo decir de este libro. La historia en si no me pareció demasiado original, el libro está lleno (llenísimo) de metáforas que a veces no logras entender, se me hizo muy pesado leerlo, no conecté con ningún personaje y no conseguí engancharme en ningún momento.

En conclusión, Shatter me es una historia de romance en un mundo distópico de la cual me esperaba mucho más. Creo que si lo hubiese leído hace unos años lo habría disfrutado más por el tema del triángulo amoroso y todo eso. Obviamente no seguiré con la saga y no lo recomiendo especialmente. 

Around seven months ago I travelled to London. I went alone and, as I was bored in the airport, I decided to go and buy some books. One of them was Shatter me, a book I saw a lot in blogger some years ago and that draw my attention.

Tahereh Mafi has written an original story. Juliette lives locked up in a sanatorium; her parents decided to take her there when she murdered someone unintentionally; Juliette can kill anyone just by touching its skin.

She has always lived with fear, isolated, avoiding contact with the others, and being avoided as she has been seen as a monster. During the book two masculine characters will appear and there will be a kind of love triangle, which I did not really like. Although the book is classified as a dystopian, and the action occurs in a dystopic world, I felt that romance prevails.

I honestly do not know what I can say about this book. The story itself did not appear really original for me, the book is full of metaphors which sometimes you don’t get to understand, it was boring for me to read it, I did not connect with any of the characters and I did not get hooked on it in any moment.

In conclusion, Shatter me is a romance story in a dystopic world from which I had high expectations that were not accomplished. I think that if I had read it some years ago, I would have loved it because of the love triangle and all these topics. Obviously, I will not keep reading these series, and I do not specially recommend it.
